Chiropractic Treatment - Longevity Effect

Chiropractic Treatment

Chiropractic Care & Applied Kinesiology

At Longevity Effect, we provide a unique and individualized experience for every patient. Like conventional medicine, chiropractic is based on scientific principles of diagnosis through testing and empirical observations. Treatment is based upon the practitioners experience and expertise. Unlike conventional medicine, which focuses on attempting to treat disease once it occurs, chiropractic is meant to improve the health of the individual in an effort to avoid illness in the first place.

Applied Kinesiology, also know as muscle strength testing, is a method of diagnosis and treatment based on the knowledge that various muscles are linked to particular organs and glands, and that specific muscle weakness can signal distant internal problems such as nerve damage, reduced blood supply, chemical imbalances or other organ or gland problems.

Everyone is unique and deserves a uniquely thorough approach to improving their health and vitality.  By combining Chiropractic treatment, Clinical Nutrition, Acupuncture, & other natural injectable therapies, Dr. Brandon Washatka is able to specifically diagnose and treat every patient based on their symptoms and history providing a truly unique and individualized experience.

About Chiropractic Care | Longevity Effect

Chiropractic & Holistic Medicine in Tulsa

When the neck is in it’s proper state, all of the discs, joints, ligaments, muscles, and central nervous system are happy, healthy and working properly together. However, if the natural curve of the neck is lost or altered due to whiplash or other injuries, the components begin to work against each other.

An unnaturally straight neck puts pressure on discs, joints, and ligaments which can be painful and lead to more serious injuries. This abnormal neck position can also cause stretching and irritation to the central nervous system. This can result in interference to normal transmissions being sent to every cell and organ in the body.

With Chiropractic Treatment, these issues and symptoms can be reversed and the natural curve of the neck can be restored. When patients arrive for their first visit, the patient will be asked to fill out forms that provide background information about his or her symptoms and condition.

Types of questions typically include:

  • When and how did the pain start?
  • Where is your pain located?
  • Describe the pain: is it sharp, dull, searing/burning, or throbbing? Is it continual, or does it come and go?
  • Did the pain start as a result of an injury?
  • What activities/circumstances makes it better or worse?

Patients are usually asked to provide information on family medical history, any pre-existing medical conditions or prior injuries, and previous and current health providers and treatments.

What exactly is chiropractic care?

Well, chiropractic care is a health care profession based on interactions of the spine and nervous system, as well as the surrounding muscles. Chiropractors can make you feel better by realigning your neck and spine!

Are chiropractors real doctors?

Yes, they are! Doctors of Chiropractic (also known as chiropractors) are not technically medical doctors, but go through a very similar education process to become licensed in the field of chiropractic care. In fact, educational requirements for chiropractors are among the most stringent of any health care profession. Chiropractic school is no joke!

What kind of issue do chiropractors treat?

Chiropractors are known for their special expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain, and headaches. They can also treat sports injuries and other disorders involving muscles, ligaments and joints. The benefits of chiropractic care go beyond this and extend into general health as our core body structure affects overall function and health.

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific, controlled force in a precise direction that is applied to a spinal joint not moving properly or “locked up.” The purpose of this natural and safe procedure is to correct structural alignment and eliminate interference in the nervous system. For the patient, this means improved spinal function, reduction in pain, and an overall improvement in health and wellness.

Do adjustments hurt?

Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort because minimal force and gentle pressure are used. In fact, most patients feel relief immediately following treatment. Any reported soreness after an initial adjustment has been described as similar to that associated with starting a new exercise program. Drinking plenty of water, using an ice pack, and engaging in light stretching after your first visit can help ease any discomfort promote healing.

Are adjustments safe?

Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of most back and neck problems. Spinal adjustments are extremely safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor.

Why do adjustments sometimes make a popping sound?

The noises you hear resembling popping sounds are your joints releasing tiny pockets of air. A chiropractic adjustment does not affect the bones of either side of a joint; it affects the connective tissue that holds the joint together.

Are all patients adjusted the same way?

Each patient’s care is unique and therefore customized to meet their specific condition and needs. Your chiropractor will modify adjustments based on your size, weight, age and health condition.

Will a chiropractic adjustment completely remove back pain?

For many, back pain can become chronic if left untreated. Chiropractic care has been shown to ease and even eliminate back pain for many patients.
